2009-2012 WCFN Board Nominations

Please welcome three new members on the Board of Directors:

Warren Brander – President, Derma Wise Skin Care Ltd.
With a passion for health and wellness and a particular interest in Plant Medicine, Warren Brander has been involved in the development and sale of natural health products and overthecounter (OTC) medicines for more than 10 years. A graduate of Victoria’s International College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in 1993, Brander completed a number of professional specialized courses in Dermatology, Internal Medicine and Cosmetic Science.

Mary Ellen Hodgins – President, Hodgins & Company Management Consultants Inc.
Mary Ellen Hodgins is President of Hodgins and Company Management Consulting Inc. She has over seventeen years of consulting experience primarily in the following areas: competitive/market intelligence, strategy development and facilitation.  The majority of Mary Ellen's consulting work is with bio-based sectors of the economy.  Projects completed have included assessment of market for high value-added products and technologies in areas such as functional foods, natural health products, biomaterials, biocomposites, and biodiesel.  Mary Ellen is also a lecturer at SFU in the areas of marketing and globalization.  In addition, she is a PhD candidate at City University London, England. Her area of research encompasses the policy environment in which innovative, bio-based companies operate - focusing on Canada as a case study.

Lori Paley - Research Analyst, BCIT
Lori Paley is a Research Analyst with the Integrative Bioscience Research Group at BCIT where she is responsible for method development and validation of analytical methods for natural health products, with special focus on quality control testing and collaborative method validation studies. She is a member of AOAC and currently serves on the Proficiency Testing Advisory Committee and has been a member of the BC Functional Food & Nutraceutical Network (now the WCFN) since 2002. Ms. Paley received her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry from the University of British Columbia in 1995 and worked several years for a leading mining company involved in hydrometallurgical process research. Prior to her commencement at BCIT in 2002, Lori worked for a biopharmaceutical contract research organization.
